As a high school senior, Tom listed his ultimate career goal: "to become the next Voice of the Wildcats." Talk about your long shots. Almost every broadcaster in Kentucky wants that best seat in Rupp Arena, but the dream came true for Tom.
Another Bluegrass tradition is part of Tom's broadcasting resume -- horse racing. Tom is a two-time winner of the prestigious Eclipse Award for excellence in coverage of Thoroughbred racing. Leach is also sports director for Clear Channel Radio of Lexington. He anchors afternoon sports reporting on WLAP 630, the flagship station for the Big Blue Sports Network. He is a freelance writer for the Cats' Pause. He has handled television assignments for NBC and ESPN. Tom's most recent venture is Tom Leach Productions. Like so many boys in Kentucky, Tom grew up with a passion for Kentucky football and basketball. "Once I knew I wasn't going to make a career of playing sports, I thought the best job would be the one Cawood Ledford and Ralph Hacker had. And I was right--it is the best job in the world for me."
